Lavrov calls for swift ceasefire in Ukraine

SOFIA. July 7 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov thinks there can be no pretext for rejecting a ceasefire in east Ukraine.

"It is in our common interests to swiftly end the bloodshed. We believe that there can be no reservations or pretexts for postponing an immediate ceasefire which is affecting more and more civilians, multiplying the flow of refugees and destroying civilian infrastructure as a result," the minister told a press conference in Sofia on Monday after talks with his Bulgarian counterpart Kristian Vigenin.

The minister also said that occasional misunderstandings between Russia and the European Union should not impede the development of their strategic relationship.
