Ukraine leadership must protect ethnic minorities in eastern Ukraine - Slovenia foreign minister

MARIBOR, Slovenia. July 8 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian leadership must protect the Russian-speaking minorities in the southeastern regions of Ukraine, Slovenia's foreign minister said.

"Slovenia favors Ukraine's territorial integrity. The four-party ministerial meeting in Berlin inspires optimism in this regard. We hope that the conflict will be settled positively. We would like the Ukrainian leadership to protect the Russian speaking minorities in eastern Ukraine. Slovenia adheres to this position in the European Union and NATO," Karl Erjavec said after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
