Poroshenko again insists of early parliamentary polls

KYIV. July 9 (Interfax) - President Petro Poroshenko on Wednesday reiterated his point that Ukraine needs early parliamentary elections.

"Talking about lustration, what is the hardest part of it? Elections. Let the people decide who to elect. What elections? Parliamentary. Having got through the first phase of resetting our political system in the form of a presidential election, we should get through the second phase as well," Poroshenko said during a meeting in Kyiv with members of reformist political groups.

He argued that the events of January 16 were largely the fault of the current parliament, which bears "political responsibility for the silence that had been their game for two years [while] it was their duty to represent people."
