Russian consul general in San Francisco to visit Roman Seleznyov in jail on July 13 - father
MOSCOW. July 11 (Interfax) - The Russian consul general in San Francisco will visit Roman Seleznyov in jail on July 13, Roman's father, State Duma deputy Valery Seleznyov said at a press conference on Friday.
"The consul general in San Francisco, our Russian consul general, will visit Roman in prison on July 13. That is, a diplomatic link will be established," Seleznyov said.
"This is very important because what we can get from the U.S. lawyer will be clarified by diplomatic channels," he said.
"Obviously, America must explain how the citizen claimed to have been arrested by the security services was moved there in just a few hours. If you detain him at the request of the Interpol, it is absolutely clear to everyone that an extradition procedure must follow," Seleznyov said.
He noted that his son would enjoy legal support whenever necessary.
"We hope and we are confident that a solution will somehow be found and all apologies will be made. If this does not happen for some reason, for instance, because of the unwillingness of the Americans to admit that they are wrong and the impossibility to do so because some funds have been spent on a special operation, we have funds supporting compatriots and the Russian Foreign Ministry employs special legal services. They are ready to render legal assistance for free," Valery Seleznyov stressed.
