EU hopes to agree consultative mechanism with Russia, Ukraine
BRUSSELS. July 11 (Interfax) - The European Union hopes the trilateral consultations between the EU, Ukraine and Russia due on July 11, regarding the implementation of the EU-Ukraine association agreement will be successful, a spokesperson for EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht told Interfax.
The EU has already demonstrated its willingness to create a consultative mechanism with Russia and Ukraine with regard to the association agreement, the spokesperson recalled.
A high-ranking diplomat closely involved in preparations for the consultations told Interfax that at the meeting the EU will offer Russia and Ukraine to sign a joint statement on creating a consultative mechanism.
