Donetsk militia claims to have damaged Ukrainian Air Force plane

DONETSK. July 12 (Interfax) - The headquarters of the militia of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) claims to have damaged a Ukrainian Air Force aircraft on Thursday evening.

"The interception occurred in the area of the village of Karlivka. The badly smoking plane proceeded toward the Dnipropetrovsk region," a militia source said.

The militias also conducted a reconnaissance-in-force operation in the area of the Donetsk airport, using heavy artillery, the source said.

"The destruction of an encircled enemy unit at the airport will be the principal goal within the next few days," he said.

Interfax could not obtain information confirming these allegations from other sources.
