Defense Ministry: Russian strategic bombers practice missile strike on enemy ships in Black Sea

MOSCOW. July 14 (Interfax) - An air attack team of Tupolev Tu-95MS strategic bombers supported by Sukhoi Su-27 and Su-24 jets, surface ships and coastal missile and artillery forces of the Black Sea Fleet has practiced a missile strike on a simulated enemy's naval force in the Black Sea, the Russian Defense Ministry press service and information department told Interfax.

"An air attack team of Tupolev Tu-95 strategic bombers practiced a strike on a simulated enemy's naval force in the Black Sea waters in the course of planned exercises of the Black Sea Fleet all-arms forces," the report said.

An A-50 early warning aircraft protected by Su-27 fighters was involved in the training mission.

"Consistent with the exercise scenario, the A-50 early warning aircraft practiced the detection and tracking of airborne targets and surface ships, informed command posts about the air and surface conditions and guided fighters and attack aircraft in their aiming at airborne, ground and seaborne targets," the Defense Ministry reported.

Synchronously with the strategic bombers, seaborne planes Su-24 and a maritime group comprising three missile ships and crews of Bastion costal missile launchers of the Black Sea Fleet practiced a strike on a simulated target, the report said.
