Next meeting of CIS leaders planned to take place in earlier Oct in Minsk

MINSK. July 15 (Interfax) - The CIS Executive Committee expects most CIS leaders to participate in the meeting of CIS leaders in Minsk in October, CIS Executive Committee Chairman, CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told reporters in Minsk on Tuesday.

"A meeting of the CIS leaders in Minsk is planned on October 10. We expect most CIS leaders to come to Minsk and to participate in the meeting," Lebedev said.

A meeting of the Council of CIS Foreign Ministers will take place in Minsk on October 9, he said.

According to Lebedev, the agenda of the CIS leaders' meeting includes "a number of important issues, including preparations for marking the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and cooperating with the inter-parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe."

"Permanent representatives of the CIS states are in Minsk today and are discussing the activities of the council of border commanders regarding the enhancement of border security at the external border of the Commonwealth," he said.
