Russian Railways to bid in Brazilian railroad tender as engineering co
FORTALEZA, Brazil. July 16 (Interfax) - Russian Railways (RZD) plans to bid in a tender to build railroads in Brazil as an engineering company in a consortium with a Brazilian company, RZD vice president Alexander Misharin said on Tuesday.
The railways will be built on a concession basis, with the national bank financing 70% and the concession holders financing 30%. The state is buying out all amounts through a special company, Misharin told reporters on the sidelines of the BRICS summit.
He said the tender is offering six sections of railway, but it is not yet clear for which RZD will bid. Neither has RZD selected a partner yet.
Misharin said the tender will be announced by the end of this summer.
RZD might also participate as a railway operator, Misharin said.
