DPR-LPR parliament declares state borders of self-proclaimed republics

MOSCOW. July 16 (Interfax) - The union parliament of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics has established their external boundaries as state borders of sovereign states.

"The Parliament of the Union of People's Republics, being the supreme legislative authority of the Union of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics and expressing the will of the people of Donbas, declares the shared external boundaries of the DPR and LPR as state borders of sovereign states entitled to the status endorsed by fundamental norms and customs of the international law," says the document posted on the DPR Twitter.

"All checkpoints operating on the state border of the Union of People's Republics irrespective of their type shall be subordinated to relevant republican services," it said.

Considering a surge in the flow of refugees crossing the Novorossiya-Russian border, the authorities have been ordered to open new checkpoints and border control posts, the report stressed.

The document was signed by Chairman of the Parliament of the Union of People's Republics Oleg Tsarev.
