Crime situation in North Caucasus complicated by active migration - Chaika
PYATIGORSK. July 16 (Interfax) - Control over people entering the North Caucasus Federal District is insufficient, Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika said during a briefing discussing the results of prosecutorial agency work in the North Caucasus, Southern and Crimean Federal Districts in January-June 2014.
"Crime in southern districts is complicated by active migration processes. For instance, over 800,000 foreign citizens and individuals without citizenship arrived to the North Caucasus Federal District since the year started and only an eighth of them were registered," Chaika said.
The growing flow of refugees from Ukraine creates additional tension in work of all relevant agencies, he said.
"Large-scale entry of citizens does not rule out the illegal entry of radicals," Chika said.
