St. Petersburg subway conducts emergency checks

ST. PETERSBURG. July 16 (Interfax) - An emergency inspection of technological processes was carried out on the St. Petersburg subway in the early hours of Wednesday morning following a crash in the Moscow subway.

All switches (more than 500) have been inspected and track diagnostics carried out overnight, a spokesperson for the St. Petersburg subway said.

"The junction has been checked between the existing subway line and the section of the line being built behind the Mezhdunarodnaya station. No defects have been found. Targeted inspections continue of the entire rolling stock and technical-inspection points. Extra staff briefings are conducted," the spokesperson said.

Similar emergency nighttime checks will continue to be carried out, the subway spokesperson said.
