Weekly inflation in Russia slows to 0.1% - Rosstat
MOSCOW. July 16 (Interfax) - Inflation in Russia slowed back down to 0.1% in the week July 8-14, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.
Inflation accelerated to 0.3% for July 1-7 on the back of increases in some housing and utility charges, which are customary for the first week of July.
Inflation was 0.1% for the four weeks prior to that, before which it was 0.2% for 17 weeks barring the week May 20-26, when consumer prices unexpectedly rose 0.3%.
Inflation was 0.4% in the period July 1-14, compared with 0.6% in the same period of last year.
Inflation in annual terms was 7.6% as of July 14 this year, unchanged from a week before.
Consumer prices had gone up 5.2% since the start of this year, compared with 4.1% by July 14 last year.
The past week saw price growth for eggs, by 3.4%, chickens - 0.7% and sugar, sausage, canned meat, rye bread, rye-wheat bread and millet - 0.3-0.4%.
Fruit and vegetable prices averaged down 2.2%, including cabbage - 8.7%, potatoes - 6.6%, fresh cucumbers - 6.3% and onions, tomatoes and carrots - 1.3-1.9%.
Gasoline prices rose 0.5% and diesel went up 0.1%.
Selected utility charges rose 0.3%-0.4%, while state and municipal housing rent rose 0.2% in price.
