Rusal ships 23% more aluminum by rail in H1 - RZD

MOSCOW. July 16 (Interfax) - UC Rusal increased aluminum shipments by rail 23.4% year-on-year in January-June to 1.386 million tonnes, Russian Railways (RZD) said.

Export shipments rose 15% to 1.226 million tonnes but domestic shipments were up nearly 2.8-fold to 159,700 tonnes.

RZD's figures differ from Rusal's own, which are usually published later because, the aluminum company says, RZD reports aluminum shipped in containers as container cargo, without a breakdown for the type of cargo.
