Atac supermarkets boost revenue almost 50% in 2013
MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - LLC Atac, which manages a chain of supermarkets and is part of the Auchan group, boosted revenue 47.1% year-on-year in 2013 to 45.02 billion rubles, the SPARK Interfax database shows.
Net profit grew 70% to 1.3 billion rubles from 763 million rubles.
Gross profit climbed 50% to 8.37 billion rubles from 5.6 billion rubles in 2012. Commercial expenses went up to 7.9 billion rubles from 5.2 billion. Sales profit was 461.5 million, against 364.4 million rubles.
Auchan opened its first supermarket in Russia in 2005. It now has over 100 Atac supermarkets and it plans to open its 200th supermarket in Russia in 2015, the company says on its website.
The International Finance Corporation board in early June approved a loan for AuchanSuper, which develops supermarkets, of 240 million euros. The money will go towards developing the chain on the Russian market.
The retailer opened 96 hypermarkets in 2013, including six in Russia. This format raises the most money for the company: hypermarket revenue reached 38 billion euros in 2013, up 3.9% without including exchange rate differences.
Auchan also opened 45 supermarkets last year, including 26 in Russia. Revenue was 7.9 billion euros.
Among Atac's rivals on the Russian market are - Perekrestok (X5 Retail Group) and Victoria (OJSC Dixy Group ). Atac sales climbed faster than its rivals last year. Net retail revenue for Perekrestok went up 4.9% to 110.66 billion rubles, X5 said earlier. Victoria supermarket sales increased 22.8% to 20.39 billion rubles, Dixy reported.
