Dixy Group's sales growth accelerates to 28.3% in June

MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - Dixy Group boosted June sales revenue 28.3% year-on-year to 19.2 billion rubles, the retailer said in a statement.

Sales growth accelerated from 27% in May.

Sales grew 22.4% year-on-year in H1 2014.

Retail revenue at Dixy neighborhood stores, the retailer's major source of revenue, increased 33.1% to 15.2 billion rubles in June, compared with growth of 31% in May.

Neighborhood store revenue in the six months was up 25.8% to 83.6 billion rubles.

Sales at supermarkets in the Victoria chain rose 23.3% to 1.9 billion rubles in June and 19% to 11.5 billion rubles in H1.

Sales at the Kvartal and Deshevo neighborhood stores, most of which have been rebranded as Dixy, increased 1.6% in January-June to 401.9 million rubles and the revenue of the chain fell 1.5% to 2.36 billion rubles.

Sales at the Cash cash & carry store rose 23.5% to 81 million rubles in June and 9.5% to 448.4 million rubles in the six months.

The Megamart division increased sales 2.7% to 1.4 billion rubles in June and 6.4% to 8.1 billion rubles in January-June.

Dixy's like-for-like sales (LFL) in Q2 rose 11.65% based on the 12.11% rise in the average check. Shopping traffic fell 0.41%.

In particular, the Dixy neighborhood store in April-June raised LFL revenue by 13.68% thanks to 14.09% growth in the average check, which partly balanced out the 0.36% fall in traffic.

LFL sales for stores belonging to the Victoria group, which are now united in one division, grew 7.5% in Q2 due to the 0.78% increase in traffic and growth of 6.67% in the average check.

In the second quarter, LFL sales for the Megamart division grew 1.3%. The average check increased 5.35%, whereas traffic fell 3.85%.

In the first half of 2014, LFL sales for the Dixy group grew 8% thanks to a 9.72% increase in the average check that partly balanced out the 1.56% fall in traffic. Dixy neighborhood stores increased LFL revenue by 9.39% thanks to an increase in the average check of 11.21%.Shopping traffic fell 1.64%.

Dixy opened 145 new stores (net, including closed stores) in H1, and in June alone it opened 69 stores, all neighborhood stores under the name of Dixy. The pace of expansion accelerated in June 2014 compared with the 23 openings and two closures for June 2013.

In January-June the retailer opened 157 Dixy neighborhood stores (last year - 127 stores) and closed 14 stores.
