Kyiv admits to not having full control over joint border with Russia
KYIV. July 18 (Interfax) - Ukraine has so far been unable to establish full control over the Ukrainian-Russian border, spokesman for the National Security and Defense Council (SNBO) Andriy Lysenko said on Friday.
"So far we cannot and will not say that we have 100% control over the entire border because it would be a lie, we say things as they are," he said.
Lysenko claims that "a loophole was closed (near Luhansk) to prevent terrorists from getting weapons, ammunition and help from outside."
He admitted there were still areas where clashes continued.
Rebels are firing rockets, including into residential areas and to Russian territory, Lysenko claims.
The Ukrainian State Border Guard Service said on Friday that one border guard was injured and two army soldiers shell-shocked in clashes near Chervonopartizansk (Luhansk region) on Thursday.
