Putin signs law on stricter liability for separatist appeals
MOSCOW. July 22 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law introducing stricter criminal liability for public appeals for actions which violate Russian territorial integrity, the Kremlin website said.
The law adjusts the Russian Criminal Code.
The appeals will be punished with four instead of three years in prison and deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain types of activity for the same period.
Similar appeals made in the media or in electronic or telecommunication networks, including the Internet, are punishable with five years in prison and a three-year ban on occupying certain positions or engaging in certain types of activities.
