Georgian PM introduces candidates for six ministerial positions

TBILISI. July 22 (Interfax) - Georgian Prime Minister Irakly Garibashvili introduced candidates for six ministerial positions on Tuesday.

Garibashvili announced on Monday that the government would undergo some reshuffles.

Otar Daneliya, who earlier served as the first deputy agriculture minister, will be appointed agriculture minister, and David Shavlishvili, who earlier headed the Georgian motor roads department, will head the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry, Garibashvili said.

The prime minister also introduced Gela Dumbadze as new state minister for diaspora affairs. Dumbadze has occupied various positions at the Georgian Foreign Ministry in the past several years.

Elguja Khokrishvili, who used to serve as the infrastructure and regional development minister, has been appointed environment protection and natural resources minister.

Sozar Subari, who has served as minister of corrections, probation and legal assistance until lately, has been appointed state minister for internally displaced persons, accommodation, and refugees.

The Ministry of Corrections, Probation and Legal Assistance will be headed by Giorgi Mgebrishvili, who has served as governor of the Kvemo Kartli region until lately.

The prime minister announced also that a candidate for culture minister would be announced within the next 24 hours.
