Fierce fighting continues near Russian border in Donetsk region - DPR
DONETSK. July 23 (Interfax) - By Wednesday morning militia squads had retreated after fierce fighting from the villages of Kozhevnya and Chervona Zorya located in the Donetsk region close to the Russian border, the Donetsk-based militia headquarters told Interfax on Wednesday.
"The populated areas were abandoned. We lost three men to injuries, as well as two infantry fighting vehicles and two tanks," the militia said.
Also, Ukrainian army aircraft continued bombing parts of the town of Snizhne within a 40-kilometer zone around the Malaysian Boeing crash site in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the militia said.
"A bomb attack was carried out in the Saur-Grave area. Besides this parachutes were seen. Obviously, they were dropping aid to the Ukrainian units which found themselves encircled near the border," the DPR representatives claimed.
