Russia vows to provide objective picture of Ukraine air crash

MOSCOW. July 23 (Interfax) - Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko has visited the Malaysian Embassy in Moscow and left a note in the book of condolences over the crash of the Malaysian Boeing in Ukraine.

"We are shocked by the horrible crash of the civilian Malaysian jet. Russia will do everything to make an objective picture of what happened to become available to the governments, parliaments and the public of all the countries whose citizens died in the sky over the Donetsk region," Matviyenko said, according to the upper house's spokesperson.

It is obvious that "the airliner's crash was caused by the absence of peace in the southeast of Ukraine," the speaker said.

Matviyenko offered condolences on behalf of the Federation Council and herself to the relatives and friends of those killed.
