Kyiv confirms loss of two fighters in eastern Ukraine
KYIV. July 23 (Interfax) - Militants in eastern Ukraine have shot down two Ukrainian warplanes, Oleksiy Dmytrashkovsky, a spokesman for the Ukrainian military operation, told Interfax.
"We have information on the downed fighter planes, and the circumstances of the incident are being looked into now," Dmytrashkovsky said on Wednesday.
The headquarters of the military operation is unaware of the fates of the planes' crewmembers, he said.
The Donetsk militia had announced earlier on Wednesday that they had shot down two Ukrainian attack planes in the area of Snizhne.
