Luhansk militia prepare to regain control over Lysychansk
LUHANSK. July 25 (Interfax) - The militia of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic are forming forces to deliver a counter-strike on the positions of the Ukrainian army, which has taken over Lysychansk, the press service for the Luhansk People's Republic reported on Friday.
"After heavy fighting within the limits of Lysychansk, the units of the Luhansk People's Republic's army left it following a serious fight in the area of the checkpoint Proletarsky, where the enemy reportedly lost over 100 troops. Small subversive groups remain in the city. Groups of the Luhansk People's Republic's army have retreated to Stakhanov, where force is being used to deliver a counter-strike against the enemy's group," the report says.
According to the press service, the Luhansk People's Republic's army on Friday intensively fought the Ukrainian army in the area of Heorhyivka, RLS, and the villages of Metallist and Vesyolaya Gora. "According to the available information, the enemy is losing a lot of troops and military equipment," the report says.
"Last night and in the early morning, the enemy continued shooting at the capital of the Luhansk People's Republic from the suburban village of Bolshaya Vergunka and the city's Kamennobrodsky district. There are casualties and destruction. Specifically, four people were killed and five people were wounded in Luhansk," the press service for the Luhansk People's Republic reported.
