Thirteen killed in rocket attack on Horlivka center - Donetsk admin

HORLIVKA. July 27 (Interfax) - Thirteen people, among them two children aged one and five years, were killed on Sunday in a shelling attack on the center of Horlivka, the Donetsk regional administration said on its website on Sunday.

Rockets were fired with Grad launchers. Civilian casualties vary from 20 to 30, according to the local emergencies department.

"The local maternity hospital was presumably damaged in an artillery attack. Windows were blown out when a drug rehabilitation clinic was hit by artillery fire. A rocket was fired at Hospital No.2, presumably the obstetric department, at about 1 p.m.. I can't provide more accurate information about casualties and destruction as I am only approaching the territory," the top local health official, Alexander Prosyanik, told Interfax.

The ATB supermarket was ruined and the Melodia ship was damaged.

A fire was sparked off by a shell in the town of Maisky. Residential buildings were damaged and windows were blown out in the districts Besposhchadny, Ostapenko and Korolenko. A house went ablaze in the Korolenko residential area, local residents said.

The attack blew out windows in the TSUM department store. The building of the Ukrtelecom mobile phone operator was damaged. Reports arrived claiming that the building of the Donbasenergo electricity company had caught fire. "Donbasenrgo is ablaze, roofs were holed in several buildings, ambulances are busy doing running calls, the windows in the TSUM department store and Ukrtelecom were blown out," the Horlivka Self Defense Group reported.

The Artemugol compnay's press service has denied reports posted in social media that the company headquarters were destroyed. The building was not damaged, it said.

The Horlivka railway terminal went ablaze. A firefighting effort is underway.
