Rosspirtprom poised to acquire eight distilleries, gain 33% market share

MOSCOW. July 28 (Interfax) - State-run Rosspirtprom may acquire control of one-third of Russia's spirits market by acquiring a number of distilleries.

Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS) has cleared a number of requests from Rosspirtprom subsidiary United Distilleries LLC to acquire controlling stakes in alcohol plants Etalon, Absolyut, Zernoprodukt, DDD, KurskProdukt, Prestizh, Premium and Yerofeyev. Talks on sale of the enterprises began last year, Kommersant reported, citing a source at United Distilleries.

The distilleries are all owned by Cyprus-registered Ilmaren Trading Ltd, whose beneficiary is Parity Capital owner Valery Yakovlev, the newspaper said.

Together the eight distilleries are worth between 8 billion rubles and 11 billion rubles, Kommersant said, citing the chief executive of the Union of Alcohol Product Manufacturers Dmitry Dobrov.
