Russian foreign minister to visit Tajikistan
MOSCOW. July 29 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is due to pay an official visit to Dushanbe on July 30 for a meeting with his Tajik counterpart Sirrojiddin Aslov, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a commentary on Tuesday.
"Lavrov and Aslov will exchange opinions on key topics on the international agenda, including the situation in Afghanistan and its impact on security in the Central Asian region, as well as other issues of mutual interest," it said.
"The negotiations between the ministers in Dushanbe will be aimed at further deepening the strategic partnership based on mutual trust, respect toward each other's interests and friendship between the two fraternal nations," the ministry said.
"The ministers will analyze the situation surrounding trade and economic ties in order to form a climate that will be highly conducive to business activity of Russian and Tajik companies on the markets of the two countries, as well as will discuss the present-day state of bilateral cooperation in science, education, culture, Russian language programs in Tajikistan and workforce migration," the ministry said.
Lavrov's visit to Tajikistan will come in the run-up to a meeting of foreign ministers from Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states, due to be held in Dushanbe on July 30-31, it said.
