Deputy general director of JSC Naftan detained in Belarus
MINSK. July 30 (Interfax) - The Belarusian Investigative Committee has reported another high-profile detention of Belarusian top managers, including a deputy general director of JSC Naftan and some top officials of enterprises of the real sector of the economy.
"The Main Investigative Department is conducting procedural actions on a corruption case against officials of JSC Naftan (based in Novopolotsk)," the information and public relations department of the Investigative Committee told Interfax.
The criminal case was opened on the basis of materials provided by the Belarusian Interior Ministry's Main Department for Prevention of Organized Crime and Corruption.
"A deputy general director and some other officials of this joint stock company, and also the heads of some enterprises of the real sector of the economy have been detained in connection with this criminal case," sources told Interfax.
The suspects are charged with crimes enshrined by Part 3 of Article 424 (abuse of office) of the Belarusian Criminal Code.
"Investigative actions are being taken to determine the circumstances of these crimes," the Investigative Committee said.
