Over 42,500 Ukrainian refugees staying in Russia's Rostov region
ROSTOV-ON-DON. July 31 (Interfax) - More than 1,300 people who fled fighting in eastern Ukraine have been given accommodation in municipalities of Russia's southern Rostov region over the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the regional emergency situations department told Interfax on Thursday.
"All in all, 42,699 people, among them 13,929 children and 388 people with disabilities, are currently staying in the Rostov region. Most of them - 34,439 people - are staying with their relatives or friends," the spokesman said.
Ukrainian refugees continue to relocate from the Rostov region to other parts of Russia on their own, he said. A total of 247 Ukrainian citizens have left the Rostov region over the past 24 hours.
