Over 36,500 Ukrainian refugees staying at nearly 500 settlement centers in Russia - Emergency Situations Ministry
MOSCOW. July 31 (Interfax) - The number of refugees from southeastern Ukraine staying at temporary settlement centers in Russia has exceeded 36,500, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry reports.
"As many as 497 temporary settlement centers have been deployed, in which 36,608 people, including 13,200 children, have been accommodated, Emergency Situations Ministry spokesman Alexander Drobyshevsky told Interfax on Thursday.
Interagency groups are also continuing to register the refugees, who have been provided with food, medical and psychological aid. A round-the-clock hotline has received nearly 5,000 inquiries, including more than 110 over the past 24 hours alone, he said.
Medical workers from the Emergency Situations Ministry's Southern Regional Search and Rescue Service in the Rostov region are continuing to provide medical aid to those in need of it, he said.
"Aid has been provided to 896 people, including 95 children," he said.
It was reported earlier that the regions of Russia's Central and Southern Federal Districts bordering Ukraine and also the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol are giving shelter to refugees from Ukraine.
