KYIV. Aug 1 (Interfax) - A shell has exploded in the area of the settlement of Shakhty Abakumova, hurting several people, the Donetsk city council has reported.

"The morning of August 1 began with explosions in the area of the settlement of Shakhty Abakumova. A shell exploded near a bus, hurting several people. The driver of the bus took them to a hospital. The details of the accident are now being determined," the press service for the Donetsk city council has reported.

Residents of the Leninsky and Kalininsky districts reported hearing shots in the night.

There is information that the equipment of the Chelyuskintsev sub-station has been damaged. Shakhty Abakumova is now without power.

Twenty-six sub-stations remained without power in the Kyubyshevsky district as of 9.00 a.m. A total of 4,500 private houses, 44 apartment buildings, and four boilers are without power.
