Conflict casualties in southeastern Ukraine exceed 1,500 people - DPR

MOSCOW. Aug 4 (Interfax) - Over 1,500 people have been killed in the fighting and bombings in southeastern Ukraine and 60% of the infrastructure has been destroyed, Andrei Rodkin, a representative of the Donetsk People's Republic in Moscow, said at a meeting of the public council for support of the people of southeastern Ukraine.

"A total of 523 people, mainly civilians, have been killed on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic since the beginning of the military action. Over 3,000 people have been wounded. Most of them were wounded in artillery attacks, and over 1,500 people were killed in bombings and artillery attacks on the uncontrolled territories of southeastern Ukraine. Sixty percent of the infrastructure of southeastern Ukraine was destroyed completely," Rodkin said, specifying that he is talking about the destruction of infrastructure, including residential, in Slovyansk, Kramatorsk, and Horlivka.

"A humanitarian catastrophe has happened, but a ceasefire can still help the situation," Rodkin said.
