Armenia lost over 70 troops in past few days - Azeri general
BAKU. Aug 4 (Interfax) - Lt. Gen. Rovshan Akpyorov, the Commander of the Third Army Corps of the Azeri Armed Forces, has claimed that the Armenian military have lost over 70 personnel over the past few days.
"During the hostilities 71 Armenian troops were killed and another 80 injured," Akpyorov said at a ceremony of awarding a For Excellence in Military Service medal to the family of warrant officer Isa Almazov who was killed, according to the Azeri television channel ATV.
He also stressed that six or seven Armenian combat-defensive positions were destroyed as a result of the hostilities.
"We are using small-arms weapons in this war. We have yet to resort to other types of weapon. If we resort to other types of weapons, there will be not one person left there (in the occupied territories)," the Azeri general said.
According to the Azeri Defense Ministry, the number of troops killed on the contact line with the Armenian military has soared to 13 over the past few days.
