Russian leader sends India landslide condolences

MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has offer his condolences to Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a devastating landslide that caused numerous deaths in the country's Maharashtra state, the Kremlin press service reported on Tuesday.

"The head of the Russian state offered his words of sympathy and support for the victims' families and wished a speedy recovery to those who were injured as a result of this natural disaster," the press service said.

More than 100 people in India's Maharashtra state were killed in a landslide trigged by heavy monsoon rains. Another 100 remain unaccounted for.
