Native of Tajikistan gets five years in prison for preparing to sell heroin in St. Petersburg
ST. PETERSBURG. Aug 7 (Interfax) - A court in St. Petersburg has found Atobek Gulmamodov, who holds dual Russian-Tajik citizenship, guilty of plotting to sell a large amount of heroin and has sentenced him to five years in prison, the press service of the city Prosecutor's Office reported on Wednesday.
Investigators established that Gulmamodov received at least 37 kilograms of heroin from drug dealers between September 9 and October 10, 2008 that he was supposed to store and prepare single dose packs. He was promised $20,000 for his role in the crime.
"However, he was unable to put these criminal plans into practice because officers of the Russian Federal Drug Control Service's branch for St. Petersburg confiscated the drugs from his apartment on October 10, 2008," the press service said.
