Russian checkpoint Gukovo at Ukrainian border operating again after month's pause

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Aug 7 (Interfax) - After a one-month suspension, movement of vehicles through Ukraine's Chervonopartizansk checkpoint has resumed, thus Russia's checkpoint Gukovo has started operating too, the Southern customs directorate press office told Interfax on Thursday.

"In the past 24 hours a total of five vehicles entering Russia and four cars for exiting Russia have been processed," the press office said.

At the same time, operations of the Russian checkpoints Novoshakhtinsk and Kuibyshevo are still suspended because bordering checkpoints in Ukraine are not working, the press office said.

According to the information of the Southern customs directorate, overnight into Thursday explosions and gunfire rounds in Ukraine were heard near the Russian checkpoint Kuibyshevo. Kuibyshevo customs officers remained at their work places.

Operation of three Russian checkpoints Novoshakhtinsk, Gukovo and Kuibyshevo was suspended for over a month due to non-operation of bordering checkpoints.
