Ukraine border guard service says four Odesa border guards may have been killed in Donbas

ODESA. Aug 8 (Interfax) - Four border guards from Odesa are believed to have been killed as they attempted to break through the militia's encirclement in eastern Ukraine, a spokesman for the Southern Regional Department of the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service told Interfax.

The spokesman also said other reports suggest that none of the border guards were killed. Ukrainian servicemen were surrounded by militia forces in Donbas 22 days ago.

Social networking websites and local media reported earlier that servicemen of the 24th-51st and 72nd mechanized infantry divisions, 79th airborne division, the 3rd special operations regiment and the State Border Guard Service had managed to break through the encirclement and had reunited with the Ukrainian army after three days of fighting near Chervono-Partyzansk, Dyakove and Dolzhansky in the Luhansk region.
