Ferrous metals shipments by Russian railways down 3% in 7M

MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - Russian Railways (RZD) carried 50.2 million tonnes of ferrous metals in January-July, 3% less than in the same period of 2013, the company said in materials, seen by Interfax.

Domestic shipments fell 1.1% to 28.9 million tonnes.

Exports rose 1.5% to 17.1 million tonnes, imports fell 24.4% to 3.5 million tonnes and transit shipments fell 36.8% to 607,000 tonnes.

Coal shipments fell 1.6% year-on-year in 7M to 195.7 million tonnes. Domestic shipments fell 9.7% to 88.3 million tonnes but international shipments rose 5.9% to 107.4 million tonnes, with 62.6 million tonnes shipped via ports, up 15.6%, and 44.8 million tonnes via border crossings, down 5.3%. Imports fell 12% to 16.4 million tonnes, exports grew 10.3% to 88.9 million tonnes and transit fell 5.3% to 2.2 million tonnes.
