Rusal ships 20% more aluminum by rail in 7M - RZD

MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - UC Rusal's key smelters increased aluminum shipments by rail 19.7% year-on-year in January-July to 1.627 million tonnes, Russian Railways (RZD) said.

Export shipments rose 12.1% to 1.439 million tonnes but domestic shipments were up nearly 2.5-fold to 188,000 tonnes.

RZD's figures differ from Rusal's own, which are usually published later because, the aluminum company says, RZD reports aluminum shipped in containers as container cargo, without a breakdown for the type of cargo.
