Medvedev makes hindsight assessment of 2008 campaign against Georgia
MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - Six years after Georgia started a war against South Ossetia, Russian Premier Dmitry Medvedev is still convinced that Russia's peace-enforcement operation against Georgia was the only right decision.
"In those days, I had to make one of the most difficult decisions of my life, and to declare the start of an operation to compel Georgia to peace. Now we have all seen for ourselves that this was the only right decision," Medvedev wrote on his Facebook page on Friday.
As a result, "peace has reigned in Abkhazia and South Ossetia for six years now," he wrote.
