Russian airlines up passenger traffic 11% in January-July
MOSCOW. Aug 11 (Interfax) - Russian airlines boosted passenger traffic 11.4% year-on-year in January-July 2014 to 52.207 million people, federal air transport agency Rosaviatsia said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
Seat occupancy was up 0.2 percentage points at 79.6%, while commercial loading grew 0.7 percentage points to 66.7%.
Mail and cargo shipments were up 0.9% at 566,420 tonnes. Freight turnover was 2.77 billion tonne-kilometers, which was 2.4% less than the same period of 2013.
Russian airlines transported 10.74 million people in July alone, up 13.5% year-on-year. Passenger turnover for the month grew 9.1% to 26.42 billion passenger-kilometers.
Seat occupancy in July was up 1.1 percentage points at 87.5%, while commercial loading increased 1.4 percentage points to 72.2%. Mail and cargo shipments grew 8.5% in July to 91,530 tonne-kilometers.
