CIS Executive Committee: Ukraine has not officially declared secession from CIS

MINSK. Aug 12 (Interfax) - Ukraine has not filed official statements with the CIS Executive Committee to declare its secession from the Commonwealth of Independent States, CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told reporters in Minsk on Tuesday.

"Indeed, some deputies and politicians have spoken [about Ukraine's secession from the CIS] but Ukraine has never declared its secession from the CIS in an official capacity," Lebedev said.

He emphasized that Ukrainian representatives were still working at certain CIS commissions.

"Hopefully, upon the achievement of peace and concord in Ukraine it will continue close cooperation with us," Lebedev pointed out.
