Donetsk reports resumption of artillery fire
MOSCOW. Aug 12 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army's Grad multiple rocket launchers resumed fire on the Donetsk Kirovskiy district on Tuesday, First Deputy Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic Andrei Purgin told Interfax.
"Ukrainian servicemen kept residential areas of the Kirovskiy district under the Grad fire all through the night. Firing has now resumed," Purgin said.
"It seems the enemy is trying to raze these residential areas to the ground; they have already suffered colossal damage," he said. "We see this as a war crime, a crime against the civilian population of these districts and we are set to achieve international recognition of this crime," Purgin said.
The City Council reported earlier that last night had not been quiet in Donetsk and people in all districts of the city had heard explosions and gunfire.
It said shells damaged a private house and another structure at 30 Klymashkyn Street, a summer kitchen at 30 Luhovskiy Street in the Petrovskiy district and a barn on Lesnaya Polyana Street in the Kyivskiy district.
Artillery fire incapacitated the bakery's substation and cut power supplies to 206 transformer substations.
