Russia not seeking to lower iron curtain, seeks defense industry cooperation with foreign partners - Rogozin

ZHUKOVSKY, Moscow region. Aug 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia is willing to cooperate with foreign companies in the defense industry field and is not seeking to lower a new iron curtain, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said.

"We don't have the goal of plunging the country into self-isolation and lowering an iron curtain. We don't want to fence ourselves off from foreign partners and are ready for cooperation," Rogozin said at the Engineering Technologies forum on Thursday.

"In developing any strategic avenue in the country, a relevant engineering complex should also be developed along the entire chain from materials to components to instruments to machines to systems," Rogozin said.

"The production chain and the delivery of the necessary units and components to a consumer without time gaps must be localized on Russian territory. In general, the entire production of all sensitive defense industry technologies must be on Russian territory," he said.

In a new geopolitical situation, Russia cannot depend on its foreign partners' moods and whims, he said.
