S-300 air defense missile systems built for Syria may be offered to third countries - Almaz-Antei
ZHUKOVSKY, Moscow region. Aug 15 (Interfax-AVN) - S-300 air defense missile systems built for Syria may be offered to third countries. A decision to scrap the systems has not been made, Concern NPO Almaz-Antei deputy head Vyacheslav Dzirkaln told reporters.
"A decision has yet to be made. The complex has been constructed and its future has yet to be decided," Dzirkaln said at the Oboronexpo-2014 exhibition.
He did not rule out the complex might be offered to other foreign clients.
Dzirkaln underscored that the statement made by Federal Service for Military-Technological Cooperation (FSMTC) deputy head Konstantin Biryulin and posted by a number of media outlets on Monday had been misinterpreted by journalists.
"He [K. Biryulin] did not make an affirmative statement that the complex would definitely be scrapped," the concern deputy director indicated.
According to Dzirkaln, the composition of the product will not be changed if it is decided to sell it to another client.
"This is an export modification and if the decision is made it will be reasonable to offer this complex to our partners without any additions or improvements," he pointed out.
