Medvedev signs directive on drawing up territorial development plan for Crimea, Sevastopol

MOSCOW. Aug 16 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed a directive on drawing up a territorial development plan for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol with regard to federal transport (including railway, aerial, maritime, inland water, and pipeline transport), federal motor roads, energy supply, higher education and healthcare services.

The directive is available on the government's official website.

An explanatory note to the document says it is aimed at promoting comprehensive development of Russia's new territorial entities and ensuring sustainable and comprehensive socioeconomic development of Crimea and Sevastopol and the construction of federal engineering, transportation, and social infrastructure facilities there.

"In addition, the drawing up of territorial development plans in various sectors in one document with regard to the territory of the Crimean Federal District will help improve interaction between the executive federal bodies concerned and reduce the time and expenditures needed for this job," the explanatory note says.
