Reports of refugees' convoy shelling 'Kyiv propaganda' - militia

MOSCOW. Aug 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Militiamen in eastern Ukraine have denied allegations by the Ukrainian military, accusing them of shelling a convoy of refugees in the Luhansk region.

"Of course, no one was shelling the convoy of refugees," the head of the South-Eastern Front Information Center, Kostiantyn Knyryk, told Interfax on Monday.

The militia see these sorts of allegations from Kyiv as propaganda, he said.

"These allegations are total propaganda. There is no documentary evidence. These words are not backed up by anything," he said.

Earlier, the online news outlet Ukrainska Pravda, citing the spokesman for the Sever (North) operational command , Anatoly Proshin, said that Grad missiles had been fired into a convoy of refugees near the villages of Khryashchevatoye and Novoselivka (Luhansk region) on Monday morning.

Interfax also learnt about the incident from the military operation spokesperson, Leonid Matyukhin.

"We can confirm the shelling. The number of victims is being clarified," he said.
