Parubiy relieved of duties as member of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council

KYIV. Aug 18 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has relieved former secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Andriy Parubiy of his duties as Council member.

The dismissal is documented in Presidential Decree No.654/2014, signed on Monday. The decree will take effect the day it is published.

Parubiy filed his resignation from the post of secretary of the National Security and Defense Council on August 7, saying that "in a time of war it would be unacceptable to comment on the resignation." Poroshenko accepted Parubiy's resignation on the same day.

Parubiy was appointed secretary of the National Security and Defense Council on February 27 by the then acting president and parliamentary speaker Oleksandr Turchynov.
