Aeroflot and Transaero continue Tel Aviv-bound flights despite Hamas threats

MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Russia's flagship air carrier Aeroflot (MOEX:AFLT) and Transaero Airlines have not so far suspended services to Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport after the Palestinian movement Hamas earlier warned international airlines not to land at Ben Gurion.

The online timetable of the Sheremetyevo airport indicates that Aeroflot's Tel Aviv-bound flight departed at 10:05 a.m. Moscow time. The online timetable of the Vnukovo airport set the departure of a similar Transaero flight for 11:00 a.m. Moscow time.

On Wednesday, the military wing of the Palestinian movement Hamas called on international airlines not to land at Ben Gurion International Airport of Tel Aviv starting from Thursday morning.

According to earlier reports, several Russian air carriers, including foreign airlines, suspended services to Tel Aviv on July 22 due to the escalation of tensions in Israel. Aeroflot then turned back its Moscow-Tel Aviv flight and rescheduled the departure of the next few flights. Transaero also turned back its airplane heading to Tel Aviv and cancelled July 23 flights to this city.
