Duma speaker condemns U.S. photojournalist Foley's killing by Islamists
MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Russian State Duma Chairman Sergei Naryshkin has denounced the killing of U.S. photojournalist James Foley by Islamists as savage and barbaric.
"Everyone was shocked by the monstrous and cold-blooded killing of an American journalist on camera," Naryshkin told journalists on Thursday.
Russians sincerely sympathize with Foley's family and loved ones and grieve together with them, he said.
"Why should such savage and barbaric acts be committed in the 21st century? Why should more and more conflicts and confrontations erupt in different parts of the planet, in which aggression engenders aggression?" he said.
Naryshkin insisted that these were not just rhetorical questions.
