Russian Defense Ministry: National Defense Center to be commissioned by Dec 1
MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The National Defense Center of the Russian Defense Ministry is being constructing on Frunzenskaya Embankment and will be commissioned by December 1, 2014, Alexander Petrov, the Ministry's Department of the State Customer for Capital Construction General Director, told Interfax-AVN.
"Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu is strictly controlling the construction of this center. Relevant funds have been assigned for the project and we can 100% guarantee that the center will open precisely on time, by December 1, 2014," Petrov said.
The National Center will incorporate the best available technologies and materials, as well as the newest communication means, which will be well protected, he continued.
Answering an Interfax-AVN question about a helicopter pad planned to be built by the Moskva River, Petrov said there would be two helicopter pads consistent with the project.
"One helicopter pad will be deployed directly on the Moskva River, by the shore, and the other will be on the roof," the general director said.
The National Defense Center is destined to become the main link of the national defense control system connecting departmental control and monitoring systems. Together with the federal executive authorities it will make decisions pertaining to defense, daily operations of the Armed Forces and other units and their full support.
The main purpose of the prospective center is the efficient coordination of the activity of all Russian federal ministries and departments in the interest of national defense and security.
